Christmas and a New Year in Cameroon….

Finished up swimming class

We celebrated Ben’s birthday

The birthday crown at school
Presents in Africa are often simple, but everyone
likes Pringles!

And a grill

Change of tradition for Dinner
Instead of steak and eggs for breakfast, steak for dinner!

Goodbyes

Leaving Yaounde for the first time for a short vacation to Kribi
A mattress

Live chickens (mostly alive…)

Is it fall?

Someone called these Christmas tree bugs- they come out near christmastime

The falls

Yes, locals bathe in the falls and do laundry here-

Basket for catching fish. There were many between rocks in the water

Dinner - barracuda

Someone ate the eyes.
I won't say who she was!
Gametime

This bug was on the the our window- outside fortunately

View for our last morning

Death to our fridge
It was old, it leaked from the gadgets, pooled water inside, and shocked us.  It almost didn't fit out the door.  Unfortunately the new replacement one that housing gave us is less than 10 cu feet.

Because nothing is square, there was more room halfway up the door!

Beginning of school - I subbed for an algebra class RFIS.  (They need teachers next year, if you are interested, click on link)

This is on our our way to the Greenhouse school.  I have never seen someone carry a guitar like this here before.
Then we took a trip to Campo to see the village where Chris will work sometimes.

A church on the way- EPC

Some interesting bridges
Careful what you drive here!
Glad we have a 4wd

Waiting while Dad talked.

Chris talking about the instruments of Campo
Trying them out-
Different types...

Soccer with some kids in Campo

Careful on the bridge!
The road between Kribi and Campo was  very good until you passed the new port.  The port is about halfway.  30 minutes to the port, and  2 1/2 or 3 hours the rest of the way to Campo!
Close to the new port

The new port
For the last two weeks I've been helping with CAMBO- Cameroonian Branch Orientation.  I took this course 6 months ago, and now I'm helping with it!

I love the tracing of the tool to show what goes where!

Bananas outside the hanger

Some traditional food
Emencé de viande
We just ate lunches for CAMBO

Card making session- thanks to Sandy Roach and donations from her card group back home for the missionaries.  A good creative outlet.

Writing letters to send to the States to mail-

I learned to make Yogurt!
Rain - first one in more than a month- we all ran outside and felt the cold wet and the hot on our feet!
Getting our baby fix with Lois- she just turned a year old.
 Friends-

Gabe borrowed our sharpies for 'my future profession' dress up day at RFIS

They liked the beach!
Too bad it's 4 hours away….

Thanks for continuing to pray for our family and our work here in Cameroon.

Pray for healthy relationships, marriages in the missionary community, and all the new arrivals who just finished CAMBO.
Praise that our house finally rented!
Pray that God will continue to provide financially.
Pray for wisdom in where to worship and for a small group to be a part of.
Pray for safety as Chris travels for work.
Pray for Chris as he continues to learn his job here and makes relationships with artists, musicians, village leaders, and other missionaries.
Pray for the children to continue to be healthy and do well in school and to grow in the faith.
